Holiday Valley Ski Resort
Holiday Valley is a splendid skiing and snowboarding resort located in western New York. The resort, which has stepped into its 52nd season, features fifty-six slopes spread over four different faces and has a 750 foot vertical drop. Holiday Valley is reputed for its diverse terrain and particularly for the ski-town of Ellicottville.
Holiday Valley ski resort is rated as ‘number 5 resort’ in the east of the US and is the larger of the two resorts in Ellicottville, the other being Mont Villa. The resort has snowmaking capacities to cater to the tourists throughout the year.
The resort features four terrain parks, a half pipe, several glades and a wonderful children’s programme.

Fun at Mammoth ski area
Mammoth Mountain ski resort is located at Inyo National Forest in the east of Sierra Nevada Mountain Range in eastern California in the United States. Yosemite National Park is located to the west of Mammoth ski area. The resort elevation is 2,424 metres while the top elevation is 3,668 metres.
Mammoth History:
Dave McCoy, a hydrographer for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power had established Mammoth after seeing the consistent snow-cover on the mountains here. In 1953, the US Forest Service gave McCoy permission to start a ski area at Mammoth.

Heavenly Mountain skiing resort is located in South Lake Tahoe on the California (El Dorado County)-Nevada (Douglas County) border in the United States. The resort is spread over an area of 48,000 acres making it the largest ski resort by area in California. Heavenly is the highest ski resort in Tahoe with a peak elevation of 3,068 metres and a vertical rise of 1,067 metres. South Lake Tahoe is the nearest city to the resort. Heavenly was bought by Vail Resorts Inc. in 2002.

The marvelous ski area of Holiday Valley in south Ellicottville was first opened commercially in 1957-58, fulfilling the dream of Dick Congdon, John Fisher and Bill Northrup to open a modern ski area in Ellicottville in New York in the USA. The ski area began operating with 4 slopes and a T-bar that descended down to Yodeler, Champagne, Holiday Run and Edelweiss. Organised skiing at Ellicottville dates back to 1935 when Fish Hill was opened. In 1938, Ellicottville Ski Club was formed which drew people from Buffalo, Rochester and Cleveland. Skiing at Geilo in Norway
Geilo is one of the most popular ski resorts located in the mountainous Hallingdal in Buskerud County in the Scandinavian country of Norway. The Hallingskarvet mountain range overlooks Geilo, which is bordered by the largest mountain plateau in Northern Europe, Hardangervidda.
The resort elevation is 800 metres above the sea level while its highest point is 1,178 metres above the sea level.
Geilo has three lakes, namely, Slåttahølen, Vestlefjorden and Ustedalsfjorden (the third being the largest).

Hemsedal Ski Resort – The Complete Holiday Destination
Hemsedal ranks amongst Scandinavia’s best and largest ski resorts. Also known as the Scandinavian Alps, some of the features of the area are steep and imposing mountains and a large variety of slopes. Located in southern Norway, the resort area is equidistant between the capital city of Oslo on the east and Bergen on the western coast. Skiing at Bled in Slovenia
Bled is a beautiful resort town located on the shores of Lake Bled in the Julian Alps region in Northwestern Slovenia. The resort is only 35 km from Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital. It had a reputation of being a spa resort for centuries before winter sports took centrestage. The top elevation of Bled is 503 metres while the top elevation is 191 metres.

Lake Bled is a glacial lake measuring 2,120 metres in length and 1,380 metres in width. Located in a picturesque setting, the lake surrounds Bled Island while a medieval castle stands tall on the northern shore of the lake. Lake Bled has been a popular host to the World Rowing Championships in 1966, 1979 and 1989 and it will host it again in 2011.

Excellent Alpine skiing at Kranjska Gora
Kranjska Gora in Slovenia is one of the best Alpine skiing resorts in Europe. It is a town located in northwestern Slovenia in Sava Dolinka Valley that separates the Karavanke mountain range from the Julian Alps. Kranjska Gora is indeed very close to the country’s border with Italy and Austria. Ljubljana, the national capital, is 90 km southwest from Kranjska Gora. The resort elevation is 803 metres while the top elevation is 1,291 metres.
The skiing runs of Kranjska Gora are located on the eastern slopes of Mt Vitranc (1,631 metres) while cross-country skiing trails lead westwards to the Planica hill, which plays host to Ski Jumping World Championships each March, in Tamar Valley.
