Alshan is a small town in the Inner Mongolian region. This is a very popular ski resort, and is located on the border with the outer Mongolian region. One reaches here by driving from Ulanhot which is three hours from Alshan. This ski resort is around 700 kilometers from the Yabuli ski resort in the province of Heilongjiang.

The piste in the intermediate level is around 800 metres long and varies with the incline and the gradient here. The average gradient here is around 12 degrees. 22 degrees sees the sharpest drop. Professional level gradients start at around 25 degrees. Here we find more beginners and the advance level skiers are few. So Alshan Ski Resort has three kings of pistes of the beginner level category. These measure less than 1000 metres and have an average gentle gradient of around six degrees.

This resort also has the Annual Ice and Snow Festival which is celebrated during the month of December and this is a festival that is celebrated throughout the northern part of the Inner region of Mongolia.
