Auli is an important ski destination in the Himalayan mountain region. The mountain is in the Uttarakhand region in India. Auli is also commonly known as Bugyal which in the common regional language means meadow. Many French and Australian experts claim that Auli is comparable to some of the best ski resorts in the whole world.
This place however is not very well known compared to Shimla, Gulmarg or Manali. Recently, Uttarkhand which was formerly Uttaranchal has just been formed from the larger state of Uttar Pradesh. Auli was later marked as a tourist destination. The state here is called the DevBhoomi which also mean the “land of gods”. There are many important pilgrim destinations here especially the “char dham”
Auli lies on the way to Badrinath. Auli especially has amazing panoramic views of large peaks which are lofty and have some of the tallest peaks in the world. The slopes here on the Himalayas give you the thrill as though you would be a professional scaling these heights quite regularly. The Gharwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited, is a government agency which usually takes care of this resort. They have also imported new snow beaters to maintain the slopes here.
One of the most fascinating things about Auli is that it holds the record for being home to Asia longest Cable car which is about four kilometers long. This place also has a chair lift and a ski lift as well. Skiing here is quite spectacular and there are many skiing paths made here with venues all facilitated to give you an amazing skiing experience. Apart from the skiing routes there are amazing trek routes as well. This place has a training facility of the indo – Tibetan Border police. There is a small temple here which is connected to the great epic of the Ramayana.
The best time to be visit this place would be from the last week of January till about the first week of March. Let us take of look at the things that you could do here in Auli. The skiing facilities provided here are quite good. You have trainers, and guides to assist you with most of everything that you would need. Also, it would be a good idea to pad up completely to avoid getting frost bitten. The skiing activities her are more of the relaxing and recreational kind rather than it being competitive.

There are also training session and they provide you with a course that offers certificates and also a course that doesn’t offer you any certificates. The courses provided could range from four days till about fourteen days. The courses also include food, staying, ski gear and of course, most importantly, the ski guide! It is good to know that there are locals here who rent out ski gear to visitors and they also help you during your ski experience. Although; if you have the time, then it would be best to learn from the actual experts.
