Les Gets is a small, picturesque resort, which is located in the Chablais region of Haute Savoie province of Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. The region is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, near the Franco-Swiss border. Les Gets is part of the gigantic Portes du Soleil ski area (includes twelve villages on either side of the Franco-Swiss border) in the Haute Savoie region. However, one must keep in mind that Les Gets, if compared to many other resorts, lies at a lower elevation of the Alps which implies that snow is not always guaranteed and skiing season is a bit smaller. The resort elevation is 1,172 metres while the top elevation is 2,002 metres. Les Gets has 66 groomed trails while there are 52 lifts to access them. Les Gets has over 650 km of piste.
There are a number of resorts located close to Les Gets, namely, Morzine (4 km), Montriond (5 km), St Jean d’Aulps/Espace Roc d’Enfer (8 km), Praz De Lys Sommand (8 km) and Avoriaz (9 km).
Skiing at Les Gets:
The runs on the mountain ranges surrounding the resort will excite skiers of various ability levels. Skiers can reach the
ski slopes of Nyon, Le Pleney and those in Morzine with the help of the main Chavannes lifts. Mont Chery is another ski area here at Les Gets. There is a gondola to gain access to the intermediate and advanced level terrain above the treeline. The gazelle black and Chamois red runs are also great places to ski.
The Portes du Soleil lift helps to ski over to Morzine and beyond the Avoriaz and other resorts on the pass right into the Swiss territory.
The skiing season at Les Gets generally extends from early December to mid-April.

Les Fripouilles, located in the village centre, caters to children aged between six months till four years. Ile des Enfants (‘Children’s Island’), on the other hand, looks after kids aged three and above. The French ski school’s kindergarten has a snow garden for the kids. - Shopping:
Les Gets has ski shops, small grocery and artisan stores. A village market opens every Thursday morning. La Cave Getoise sells local items and Chantal Monnet is the local cheese maker. Douceurs et Chocolats is a known chocolate seller here.

Getting around:
Les Gets can be explored on foot although there is a free shuttle bus service at quick frequency to see the adjacent areas. There is also a small road train service that operates in and around the village. Many of the hotels/chalets here also have their own arrangements to and from the skiing areas.
