Wisp Ski Resort ski area is located at Deep Creek Mountain Resort in McHenry in Maryland in the United States. The resort, the only in Maryland, is situated just 2 hours drive from Pittsburg and less than 3 hours from the DC metro area and Baltimore. The resort was opened in 1956 and has undergone a substantial terrain expansion ever since.

Skiing at Wisp:

The Wisp Ski  Resort has skiable area of 132 acres and experiences an average annual snowfall of 100 inches. It has 32 trails and 13 lift systems in all. Snow making and night skiing facilities are also available at Wisp resort ski area. New 10 trails and two quad chairlifts have been added to the resort’s skking infrastructure in recent times. Wisp is ideal for the intermediate skiers and snowboarders but it also offers good opportunity for beginners as well as advanced skiers.

Deep Creek Lake State Park:

It is a popular vacation area in Garrett County, Maryland, close to Wisp Ski resort. The park surrounds a reservoir that was created by the construction of Deep Creek Dam in 1923 on a tributary of Youghiogheny River. The lake (area: 16 square kilometres) is used for several fun activities like boating, water skiing, wakeboarding and fishing. Sometimes, black bears are spotted in the spot. Deep Creek Lake, which is the largest inland water body in Maryland, is located at about 15 miles from Interstate 68 on U.S. Route 219.
