A day out at park City ski resort



park City ski resortPark City is located in the Wasatch Mountains of the state of Utah in the United States and is located very near to the state’s capital, Salt Lake City. Park City ski resort is a fabulous place covered with light snow and punctuated by woodlands. The main street at Park City, which ascends to the mountain, is crowded with restaurants, bars and shops although it gets quieter downtown and most of the accommodation facilities are located around here. The resort elevation is 2,100 metres while the top elevation is 3,048 metres. Park City played host to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Park City is home to the US ski team.

Winter sports at Utah:

Utah is well known for its winter activities and a large number of ski resorts in northern part like near Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden, and Provo. These resorts are well liked to airport and each other, which allows skiers to ski at multiple locations in a single day.

Deer Valley and the Canyons are some of the other resorts near park City where tourists can take time off to visit (Canyons in fact has been developed into one of the largest ski areas in North America).

The beginners’ skiing area at Park City leads to the intermediate runs on and around the bowl above. From here, a pretty ski descends down across a bridge to the top of Main Street and the Town Lift chair.

The intermediates have a network of runs off the ridges served by the Silverlode and King’s Con chairs. For experts there are McConkey’s, Scott’s Bowls, Interconnect. One can also go for the guided backcountry tour from Deer Valley through Park City, Solitude, Brighton and Alta to Snowbird. The skiing season at Park City runs from mid November until mid April.

    Bunya Bunya clothing emporium, Alaska Fur Gallery are some of the stoppers’ shop at Main Street, the central shopping point at Park City. Nike, Ann Taylor and Ralph Lauren have brand outlets here.

    Brewhouse and Bar at Resort Centre Legends is a popular centre of Après ski. One come can also become guest of a local household or become temporary member of a local bar to have a good time wining. Claim Jumper, No Name Saloon, Wasatch Brewpub, Harry O’s, Cisero’s at Main Road are some of the most happening places here.
  • Eating Out:
    Blind Dog is known for seafood and steak while Hungry Moose is popular for American dishes.  Goldener Hirsch is also well-known for its European touch.

As said earlier, the Main Street area has various lodging facilities. The surrounding suburbs also have concentration of various accommodation facilities. Apartments are also available with ski-in and ski-out facilities.

By air:
Salt Lake City International Airport (40 km) is the nearest airport to Park City.

Getting around:

Free shuttle bus service connects Resort Centre, Main Street and the Canyons and Deer Valley areas till late evening.
