Skiing At Jasper



Jasper National ParkJasper is a beautiful skiing area in Marmott Basin in the Rockies in Alberta in western Canada.  Marmott Basin is located in Jasper National Park (10, 878 square kilometres) and about 19 km from Jasper town.

Jasper National Park:

Jasper National Park is the largest and the northernmost national park located in the Canadian Rockies. It has been designated as the Canada Rocky Mountain Park World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

Skiing at Jasper:

The high altitude ensures a longer snowfall at Marmott Basin and hence a long skiing season from December till late April. This is why a lot of tourists visits here to make enjoy Skiing At Jasper.

The terrain of Marmot Basin extends over four mountain faces and has largely uncrowded slopes. Efforts are on to increase the number of high-speed lifts (the Canadian Rockies Express chair lift due to open soon would be the longest high speed chair in the Alberta Canadian Rockies).   • Eating out:
    Continental from Chinese, French, Indian, Italian and Japanese along with the loc al specialities are available here. Bear’s Paw Bakery is a nice little café while Coco’s Café is largely for the vegetarians. De’d Dog Bar & Grill is the place for non-veg people.

Getting to Jasper:
  • By air:
    Edmonton (360 km) and Calgary (400 km) are the nearest airports to Jasper. Yellowhead Highway from Edmonton or the mountain drive from Vancouver connect Jasper.
  • By rail:
    Jasper is connected to Prince George and Prince Rupert through Skeena train service.
Getting around:

The resort can be easily covered by foot. A ski shuttle service operates daily from the hotels to ski slopes and the tickets can be procured from the hotel itself. Shuttle service also links Jasper with Banff.
