The St Anton am Arlberg Resort, Austria



Located in Tyrol of Austria, St Anton am Arlberg is a famous ski resort nestled at 1,304 m above sea level in the Tyrolean Alps. With several aerial tramways and chairlifts up to 2,811 m, St. Anton offers the best experience in skiing in the Arlberg region. St. Anton, on the Rosanna River, is situated on the east-west major rail line running between Austria and Switzerland. The entire region has over 82 cable cars and ski lifts, 260 km of clean pistes, and 184 km of deep-snow runs. If you are a fan of skiing, you will definitely like to make a trip here where the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2001 were conducted.

Arlberg is the identity that covers five scenic towns across which the skiing runs are spread. The St. Anton town’s center is a pedestrian zone, while the east and west edges offer the Kapall, Valluga, and Schindler peaks providing skiers with a vertical of 1,500 m for skiing. For the experts, there exists a guided skiing terrain with less frequently St Anton am Arlberg skigroomed ski routes namely, Schindler, Mattun, and the rear of Valluga (2,811 m) down to Zürs. In addition, there are many off-piste routes in the area for the experts, which cannot be explored without a guide. On the other hand for the intermediates, Rendl is the best route to discover on the other side of town. In fact, most people finish their day at the Rendl Beach that is energetic outside bar with a sun terrace and tea dances.

Looking for more skiing areas? Lech, Stuben, and St. Christoph are waiting for you. Alpe Rauz, located close to St. Christoph, offers a superb cruising trail. So, as you decide to experience this route, have a Hiess Skocolade (hot chocolate), an 820 m vertical slope via which you reach Stuben from Ulmer Hutte. Lech and Zürs are also beautiful with classic chalets. The mountains here, namely Madloch and Trittkopf, are graced with the slopes of all levels. Situated 600 feet above Lech, Oberlech is a challenging satellite resort for families.

Reaching Arlburg

The most accessible airports are Munich, Zürich, and Friedrichshafen. However, the closest Austrian airport is Innsbruck located at a distance of 103 km (64 mi). You can even catch a train from here to reach the resort in 1.5 hours.

In total, there are some 8,900 beds in the region. You can find many hotels, guest houses, apartments, and private pensions in St. Anton, St. Jakob, and St. Christoph. Stuben also offers 300 hotel beds and 340 private beds. It is located in a side valley below St. Christoph and is famous not only for its more reliable atmosphere, but also for its lowest lodging prices in the Arlberg province. However, Stuben is off the main tourist route. Five star hotels with a blend of luxury, great Alpine elegance, and friendliness are found in Zürs spanning the Flexen-Pass and Lech at the end of the road in a side valley.
