Skiing at Geilo in Norway

Geilo is one of the most popular ski resorts located in the mountainous Hallingdal in Buskerud County in the Scandinavian country of Norway. The Hallingskarvet mountain range overlooks Geilo, which is bordered by the largest mountain plateau in Northern Europe, Hardangervidda. The resort elevation is 800 metres above the sea level while its highest point is 1,178 metres above the sea level. Banff ski resort in the Rockies

Banff ski resort is located amidst the charming Rockies Mountains Banff in Alberta province in western Canadian, located 120km west of Calgary. It is situated in Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains. Skiing activities took off at Banff in the early 20th century. Skiing at Banff is centred on Ski Norquay and Sunshine Village. The twin resorts of Morzine-Avoriaz

Morzine and Avoriaz are two neighbouring ski resorts in Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the world’s largest ski regions spread over in France and Switzerland (it has twelve resorts in all). Geographically, these two resorts are located in Haute Savoie region in southeastern France, close to the Swiss border. Fascinating skiing runs of Méribel

Méribel ski resort is located in Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps near the town of Moutiers. Méribel mainly refers to three adjacent villages in the Les Allues commune of the Savoie département of France called Méribel Centre, Méribel-Mottaret and Méribel Village. Méribel  hosted the events of Ice Hockey and Women’s  Downhill in the 1992 Winter Olympics. Méribel has Courchevel to the east and Les Menuires and Val Thorens to the west. The classic ski destination of Les Gets

Les Gets is a small, picturesque resort, which is located in the Chablais region of Haute Savoie province of Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. The region is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, near the Franco-Swiss border. Les Gets is part of the gigantic Portes du Soleil ski area (includes twelve villages on either side of the Franco-Swiss border) in the Haute Savoie region. However, one must keep in mind that Les Gets, if compared to many other resorts, lies at a lower elevation of the Alps which implies that snow is not always guaranteed and skiing season is a bit smaller. At the skiable glacier of Les Doux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes is one of France’s oldest ski resorts (second oldest after Chamonix, the location of the largest mountain in western Europe). It is located in Dauphiné area of southern Alps of France. Although the Pied Moutet area is smaller, the main skiing area ascends to the big glacier, making Les Deux Alpes one of the world’s highest resorts as well. The resort’s altitude is 1650 metres while the vertical drop is 2,298 metres. The highest lift is 3,568 metres.
