Skiing at Geilo in Norway

Geilo is one of the most popular ski resorts located in the mountainous Hallingdal in Buskerud County in the Scandinavian country of Norway. The Hallingskarvet mountain range overlooks Geilo, which is bordered by the largest mountain plateau in Northern Europe, Hardangervidda. The resort elevation is 800 metres above the sea level while its highest point is 1,178 metres above the sea level. Åre is one of the biggest skiing destinations in North Europe, which was founded way back in 1909. It is situated in the Jämtland county close to the Swedish-Norway boundary. Grindelwald is one of the oldest ski resorts in Europe that dates back to the late 19th century. Grindelwald is located in Interlaken district within Bernese Oberland canton in the south-central Switzerland. Morzine and Avoriaz are two neighbouring ski resorts in Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the world’s largest ski regions spread over in France and Switzerland (it has twelve resorts in all). Geographically, these two resorts are located in Haute Savoie region in southeastern France, close to the Swiss border.
