A ‘heavenly’ skiing resort
Heavenly Mountain skiing resort is located in South Lake Tahoe on the California (El Dorado County)-Nevada (Douglas County) border in the United States. The resort is spread over an area of 48,000 acres making it the largest ski resort by area in California. Heavenly is the highest ski resort in Tahoe with a peak elevation of 3,068 metres and a vertical rise of 1,067 metres. South Lake Tahoe is the nearest city to the resort. Heavenly was bought by Vail Resorts Inc. in 2002.

The marvelous ski area of Holiday Valley in south Ellicottville was first opened commercially in 1957-58, fulfilling the dream of Dick Congdon, John Fisher and Bill Northrup to open a modern ski area in Ellicottville in New York in the USA. The ski area began operating with 4 slopes and a T-bar that descended down to Yodeler, Champagne, Holiday Run and Edelweiss. Organised skiing at Ellicottville dates back to 1935 when Fish Hill was opened. In 1938, Ellicottville Ski Club was formed which drew people from Buffalo, Rochester and Cleveland. Holiday Valley, however, has come a far distance from where it had started. Skiing at Bled in Slovenia
Bled is a beautiful resort town located on the shores of Lake Bled in the Julian Alps region in Northwestern Slovenia. The resort is only 35 km from Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital. It had a reputation of being a spa resort for centuries before winter sports took centrestage. The top elevation of Bled is 503 metres while the top elevation is 191 metres.
Lake Bled:
Lake Bled is a glacial lake measuring 2,120 metres in length and 1,380 metres in width. Located in a picturesque setting, the lake surrounds Bled Island while a medieval castle stands tall on the northern shore of the lake. Lake Bled has been a popular host to the World Rowing Championships in 1966, 1979 and 1989 and it will host it again in 2011.

Kirkwood Ski Resort is also called Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a fantastic skiing resort in California in the USA. Kirkwood, which had about 96 people during the 2000 census, is located within Eldorado National Forest.
Background
In 1863, following the opening of the Amador/Nevada Wagon Toll Road passing through the Sierra Vevada Mountains, Zack Rancher, a local cattle raiser had opened an inn called Kirkwood’s. In 1864, with the creation of the Alpine County and redrawing of the county borders, the inn came to be placed at the convergence if the Alpine, El Dorado and the Amador counties (the borders were changed again later). Mammoth Mountain ski resort
Mammoth Mountain ski resort (Mammoth in short) is located at Inyo National Forest lying to the east of Sierra Nevada mountain range in eastern California in the United States. Steamboat ski resort is located on Mount Werner in Park Range in Routt National Forest in Colorado in the United States. The big ski resort (2,965 acres in area), which is operated by Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, was opened in January, 1963. Intrawest, a noted Canadian resort management company, owns Steamboat ski resort. Earlier, it was owned by the American Skiing Company. The base of the resort is 2,100 metres while the summit elevation is 3,221 metres high. Steamboat Springs is the nearest city to Steamboat. The breathtaking view of the Yampa Valley from the ski resort is an added attraction.
