The newest ski resort in the United Kingdom
Nevis Range in Lochaber region of the Western Scottish Highlands is the newest ski area in the United Kingdom. It is situated close to Fort William and Ben Nevis Mountain (1,344 metres) in the Grampian mountain range. Nevis Range has the reputation of a world class mountain-biking area. Nevis range had played host to the Mountain Bike World Cup in 2009. The resort elevation of Nevis range is 640 metres while the top elevation is 1,221 metres.

Skiing at the magnificent La Thuile
La Thuile ski resort at Aosta Valley of the Alps Mountains in north-western Italy near the country’s border with France is a blend of tradition and modernity. The resort, which has developed from small hamlets in the Aosta Valley, currently features large and modern complex. La Thuile shares an international ski resort with the French resort of La Rosière (one of the only two Italian ski resorts having such feature).

La Thuile has magnificent skiing facilities for all levels. It has excellent runs measuring 150 km (its proximity to La Rosière enhances its area) and if one is still not satisfied, he/she can procure an Aosta Valley Pass to visit several other resorts of varying size in the nearby area. Val Thorens: the highest ski area in France
Val Thorens, which is located in Tarentaise Valley in Savoie in the French Alps, is the highest ski resort in Europe at 2,300 metres. It is situated in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville commune in Savoie department. The resort is part of the three valleys (Trois Vallées) linked ski area (includes over 600 km of piste), which is the largest linked ski area in the world. The ‘purpose-built’ Val Thorens, being the highest resort, has snow cover throughout the year. The dominant summit of Val Thorens is Aiguille de Peclet (3,562metres).
However, skiing here in poor visibility can be difficult here owing to the fact that the terrain is located all above the trees.
