Skiing at Geilo in Norway
Geilo is one of the most popular ski resorts located in the mountainous Hallingdal in Buskerud County in the Scandinavian country of Norway. The Hallingskarvet mountain range overlooks Geilo, which is bordered by the largest mountain plateau in Northern Europe, Hardangervidda.
The resort elevation is 800 metres above the sea level while its highest point is 1,178 metres above the sea level.
Geilo has three lakes, namely, Slåttahølen, Vestlefjorden and Ustedalsfjorden (the third being the largest).

Squaw Valley ski resort is located in Olympic Valley, Placer County, California, United States and is one of the largest ski resorts in the country. The resort, which was opened in 1949 and played host to the 1960 Winter Olympics and events of the World Cup tour in 1969, is the second largest ski area at Lake Tahoe region (Heavenly being the largest). Hidden Valley Ski Resort At Laurel Highlands
Hidden Valley ski resort is located in Laurel Highlands in southwestern Pennsylvania in the United States.
The ownership of Hidden Valley shifted from the Kettler family to Buncher Company in 2007. The latter, subsequently upgraded the resort, adding state-of-the-art snowguns and new groomers in the process. In 2008, a new quad chairlift along with 50 more state-of-the-art snowguns were set up here. Buncher Company has more plans to develop the resort even more in next few years including new lodging complexes.

Fabulous skiing at the top of Europe
Zermatt (from ‘Zur Matte’ meaning in the meadow) ski resort, located in the German-speaking region of Valais canton (Visp district) in southern Swiss Alps near the Swiss-Italian border, is one of the nine resorts in the world that offer scope of skiing entirely at altitude higher than 2,200 metres. The top two T-bars at Zermatt remain open for the tourists during summer season. The resort elevation is 1,620 metres while the top elevation is 3,900 metres.
The village of Zermatt is located about 10 km from Theodul Pass (3,300 metres high) bordering Italy. It is surrounded by high mountains of the Penine Alps including Monte Rosa (Switzerland’s highest peak), Dom, Lyskamm, Weisshorn and the Matterhorn.

Nevis Range in Lochaber region of the Western Scottish Highlands is the newest ski area in the United Kingdom. It is situated close to Fort William and Ben Nevis Mountain (1,344 metres) in the Grampian mountain range. Nevis Range has the reputation of a world class mountain-biking area. Nevis range had played host to the Mountain Bike World Cup in 2009. The resort elevation of Nevis range is 640 metres while the top elevation is 1,221 metres.

In the high ski resort of Tremblant Mountain (Mont Tremblant)
Tremblant is a premier ski resort located in Laurentian Mountains, which are situated north of Montreal (130 km) in the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec. Mainly a ski resort, Mont Tremblant (meaning the ‘Trembling Mountain’) is also a favourite destination of swimmers and golfers. The peak has an elevation of 875 metres. Both Mont Tremblant and the resort are part of the Mont Tremblant National Park. Joe Ryan, an explorer from Philadelphia, had played key role in developing the beautiful Tremblant into a major resort area in the later 1930s. The resort also features traditional Quebec architectural reminiscence. Lowell Thomas, renowned radio broadcaster from the US, also helped popularize the resort. The commune of Val-d’Isère is located in Tarentaise Valley (some of world’s best ski resorts like Paradiski including Les Arcs, La Plagne and Les Trois Vallées including Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens are located here) in Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France near the Franco-Italian border.
