The top elevation of the Timberline Ski Resort is 4,268 feet while the base elevation is 3,268 feet and vertical rise is 1,000 feet. The resort has a total skiable area of 100 acres and features 37 slopes and trails (equally distributed among the all levels of skiers). The resort has 3 lifts (1 double, 2 triple and 1 surface) and Salamander is the longest run at the resort. Timberline experiences an annual average snowfall of over 200 inches.
Season:
September- October. Night skiing begins on Boxing Day and takes place every day until January 2nd. Thereafter, it is available every Thursday through Saturday.

The spruce-stained Blackwater Falls across the canyon is a top attraction.
- Cathedral State Park:
A spectacular day park, which is home to over 100 acres of virgin pine and hemlock. The park is located on US 50 north of Blackwater Falls and Monongahela National Forest. - Dolly Sods Wilderness Area:
Boasts tundra, wild blueberries and wind-flagged spruce population.
- Fairfax Stone Historical Monument:
It preserves Fairfax Stone located at the headspring of North Branch of Potomac River.
- Seneca Rocks:
A thin sandstone wall soars like a ruined castle some 900 feet above the valley.

- From North: I-79 S to 68 E at Morgantown, I-68 E to Rt. 42 S at Friendsville, to 219 S to 32 S at Thomas, and then follow Rt. 32 S into Canaan Valley.
- From the North & Northeast Timberline Ski Resort: From Northern Virginia via Winchester: 50 N (via 37 bypass) to SR 127 (changes to SR 29) Intersects Rt. 50 W to New Creek, Rt. 93 W to 32 S at Davis, WV.
- From the East: From Baltimore and Washington, DC: 1-95 S to I-495 W to I-66, I-66 W to Strasburg, Rt. 55 W to Seneca Rocks. Rt. 33 W to Harman, followed by WV 32 N to Canaan Valley.
- From the West & Northwest of Timberline Ski Resort: Feeder highway to I-77 S to Parkersburg, Rt. 50 E to Clarksburg. I-79 S to Weston Exit 99, Rt. 33 from Elkins to Harman, and then WV 32 N to Canaan Valley.
- From the South: I-79 to Buckhannon/Weston, Exit 99, then 33 E to Elkins, WV. 33 into Harman, then Rt. 32 N to Canaan Valley.
